In a previous blog post, I wrote about how graphic organizers are not just for writing but have a place in math class. My current favorite graphic organizer is for adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators.
Adding or subtracting fractions with unlike denominators requires multiple steps. Students must find the lowest common multiple, create equivalent fractions, and then solve. Remembering these steps and organizing them on the paper can be difficult for students. This is where a graphic organizer is super helpful. It helps remind students of the steps and keeps their paper organized.
This graphic organizer along with directions is available in my TPT shop. Included is a video preview to see the graphic organizer in action.
