Finished up the first week of school teaching 2nd grade again for the first time in twenty years. It was marvelous! We did lots of great get to know you and team building activities to start off our school year.

My favorite activity from the week was the read aloud The Magical Yet. This is truly a magical book that focuses on growth mindset and the power of yet. The main character is learning to ride a bike and her magical yet is by her side helping her along the way. There are beautiful illustrations showing lots of children all with their very own magical yet helping them to do things they can not yet do.

This read aloud leads beautifully into this TPT Freebie by Little Yellow Star, that provides space for students to create their own magical yet in the form of a pennant. These pennants put together make for a great display in the classroom to remind students throughout the year of their own Magical Yet.
