4,000 weeks doesn’t have the benefit of a catchy tune but does provides a memorable measure of time.

The book 4000 Weeks: Time Management for Mortals by Oliver Burkeman presents 4000 weeks as an average lifetime. I just started reading this book and as was lesson planning for the week, it got me to thinking. A school year is roughly 40 weeks. This means that an entire school year makes up 1% of a lifetime for both teachers and students. This doesn’t reconcile with the sense of urgency created in schools as we work towards the next benchmark or state test.

I just began reading this book and not sure where it will eventually lead. So far I am interested in what is next.
