As teachers we never have enought time to complete what needs to be done during contract hours. Planning, grading, and preparing materials are often completed during off hours and weekends. Adding a side hustle to the mix might seem impossible.
Here are 3 side hustles I have begun that take minimal day-to-day time commitment or leverage what I already do as a teacher.
Amazon Book Selling
If you have excess books on your shelves at home, this is a great way to earn some extra cash with not a big time investment.
I began selling during Winter Break and have sold 42 books so far for a total of $319. The only time commitment is scanning and listing the books which is simple and straightforward. Packing is quick using supplies I have on hand. Purchasing media mail shipping is quick and easy within Amazon Seller Central. Using USPS scheduled pick-up or dropping off at a nearby post-office has been quick.
Overall, the time devoted to selling some of my books has been minimal. And best of all, my already read books are finding a new home off my overcrowded book shelves.
Boom Cards
Boom Cards are digital, self-correcting task cards that students enjoy.
I began selling Boom Cards in mid-October and have made $170 so far. It does take some time to create Boom Cards but I was already doing this for my classroom, so it only made sense to list them for sale.
Teachers Pay Teachers
TPT is an online marketplace for teacher-created resources.
There are a few resources that I have created and found useful for my students, so I took the time to create a listing on TPT. So far in the last two months, I have made $9.95. For this competitive space and limited time invested, I can’t complain.
Earning $500
As a teacher, there are a lot of different ways I can use the extra $500 earned so far. For the minimal time invested, I look forward to seeing how these side hustles continue to grow.
